Just a month ago, Colman Domingo was only in one place at a time, like his house, a grocery store, or sometimes the park. But ever since a cloning incident resulted in hundreds of identical copies of the actor, he’s literally everywhere. Walking down the streets of Los Angeles, this reporter ran into multiple Colman Domingos. A few were working as police officers, many were running a Trader Joe’s, and others were sent to serve in roles Domingo wasn’t interested in.
“You think I’d actually wanna be in that?” said Domingo when asked about his recent appearance in Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic. “I sent my most swingin’ and singin’ clone in my place.”
“Ultimately, I’m glad the cloning happened,” Domingo continued. “There’s no way I’d want to host Jimmy Kimmel myself. I sent my most braindead clone to do that.”
The cloning incident occurred during rehearsals for Domingo’s hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live. Sources report that Sarah Sherman had been cooking up a mysterious green concoction from her dressing room and invited Domingo to try it. Colman recounted the instant when the duplication started.
“Suddenly… One Domingo. Two Domingo. Three Domingo. Four. Five Domingo. Six Domingo. Seven Domingo. More.”
Though most of the clones were able to be contained for the duration of the taping, one slipped out during Weekend Update and killed Colin Jost, an incident chalked up to Joke Swap gone too far.
